No. It is an innate part of being human. To look at someone and say: I have a lot in common with you, but not with him. I fear what I do not understand.
-
Indian astrologers predicted that racist discrimination will decrease from 2020.
-
It already 'is' in most educated societies : / Racism is a thing of the past both in practice and as a concept; there isn't even such a thing as race, let alone a justification for discrimination... This isn't to try and diminish the horrible things done under the banner of 'racism', it is merely to point out that 'racism' is both evil -and- completely incoherent.
-
Eventually we're all gonna be the same race.
-
Racism perhaps, because I agree with Eric...more and more we will all become one race. Now discrimination is a different matter....discrimintaion and bigotry will always exist.
-
I shall answer using the word "bigotry" rather than "racism". Racism is a rather narrow definition, only encompassing the recognized "races" of humanity which are an artificial and inaccurate construct. If racism is only applied to those few categories, they leave out the rest. I have gotten into this because I have duked it out with people saying there is no "racism" against my ethnicity because science does not deem us a "race". They use it as an excuse to discriminate against us. Ok, bigotry: it covers "racism" as well as every other type of discrimination, including sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, religion, and other intolerances. It is just plain prejudice. No, bigotry is never going to end. As long as humans are different, one group is going to discriminate against the other. That is how they can justify hate. That is how they set up the us vs. them mentality and that is how they justify their OWN need to hate.
-
Nope! It keps bigots ike Al sharpton, Jessee Jackson. Luis Farakahaan and other in a job where one does not extst. Mr Bill
-
Probably not, and neither is RACISM...unfortunately, correct spelling seems to be...
-
Its always going to be here as long as there are uneducated people in the world.
-
Racism will always be around : / some people just cant open their minds
-
Not as long as we have things like the Black Music Awards, The Black Entertainment Television, United Negro College Fund, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Black History Month, National Association of Black Accountants, Inc, National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters, National Black Nurses Association, National Alliance of Black School Educators, National Association of Black Law Enforcement executives, National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers Etc, etc, ect.
-
Unfortanitly, there will always be some people who judge others based on their skin colors.
-
no, on election night a group of teens on Staten Island(where i live)..went on a hate crime spree beating up random black men all they while yelling "Obama" at them..they are now in FBI custody and are being charged with numerous crimes..hate crime among them
-
Uhm... hardly. Contrary to other answers, not all racism is against blacks or against whites. There are more than blacks and whites in America. This shall give a hint of a racism that nobody knows about: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4790220 http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4724841 That is just one instance of one group nobody knows about. There are many more who go ignored and there is much more than just what I posted about the group I mentioned.

No.
-
Yes, it is a thing of the past, like religious intolerance, sexual discrimination, poor educational standards, government apathy, poverty, hunger, disease, and war.
-
NO, it's just beginning! When you have fewer jobs available, and more and more people vieing for the same positions, what do you think is going to be the result!
-
Heck no. I'm a white male the most hated being around
-
it should've never started.
-
I remember a song (I think it was by The Kingston Trio or The Brothers Four) that went something like: The French hate the English, the Germans hate the Dutch, Italians hate Yugoslavs, and I don't like anybody very much. There has always been hatred everywhere and I don't expect that it has given up yet.
-
Not in a long time.
-
Not hardly, but it is slowly getting better, at least from my perspective.
-
No more so than in every other counry in the world.
-
Unfortunately, it is alive and well all over the world.
-
sorry but yes. i'm not sure if your only talking about racism towards colored people... but if your talking about racism in general, as an Asian myself, i DO experience racism in America. i do hear lots of "freakin Asian" and lots of race offending jokes all around me. it might seem as if its gone, but unfortunately, it still there somewhere, bothering lots of people.. lets hope things change....

Once someone gets the ball started rolling, it usually never stops. it is either a matter of people of color being disgruntled and pissed off about it or people not of color being idiotic and defensive? It never ends because man needs more than anything else, to; Contend, compete and ameliorate himself through these avenues and try to come off as better than usually by the same means as those he is opposing. Human beings will always argue about something and always have hard feelings and always be up in arms about something. It doesn't matter what. Dr. Suess penned that down in the story of the Star Bellied sneeches. I love that story for that very reason.
-
One would hope but their are pockets of resistance!
-
Alas, not yet.
-
Not at all. It will never go away. There is always going to be someone who thinks they are better than someone else.. Even with the election of Obama.. racism still lives on and it always will. . It's sad but that's just the way it is.
-
Unfortunately not, BUT, we are far more evolved now then ever before. I mean we have a black man as president! That's progress.
-
Hell no. Its alive and well in the 21st century.
-
Racism is ALREADY a thing of the past. Unfortunately it's ALSO a thing of the present. And will definitely be a thing of the future. As long as we are human and our thoughts are free and our own we will always find a reason to dislike, hate, someone or something. You want a racist free society kill everyone including yourself and leave nothing but those little internet chat bots to talk to each other. The price of being human is we will never be perfect no matter how idealistic you want to be.
-
Without a time frame to go by in the question, I would have to say yes, racism will be a thing of the past. But not in my lifetime. And most likely not even in my daughter's lifetime. But logic would dictate that eventually we would outgrow it, evolve beyond it, or blow ourselves up and it would then become a moot issue.
-
Not for as long as there are racist people to keep it alive
-
No, it will be with us always.
-
Unfortunately no. While blacks and other races have made definite strides, there will always be racism. A lot more of it is now hidden. In other words, most people don't come out and admit their racist yet many are. It is sort of a double edged sword in my opinion. To judge someone simply based on the color of his or her skin is ridiculous (and racism appears in all walks of life) but it also doesn't do a particular race any favors when tons of people seem to fit that stereotype. The biggest thing is to prove whatever someone thinks about you wrong. However, if you act like they expect you will act, their views will never change. Good question!
-
No, it's one of the very basest parts of our natural instinct. But it's not one we have to adhere to.
-
No because those that feel that there is racism keep accusing and those being accused keep denying. That alone will keep racism alive. The discussion, questions, accusations, need to end before we can overcome racism.
-
i m sorry to say-not-unfortunately it is present n i think it will alive-today a attack on sri lanka cricket team in Pakistan.5
-
Maybe when we're all dead.
