Sugar-licious a bellydancing rum maiden

Question

Help answer this question below.

My friend wants me to take a belly dancing class with her. I don't know much about it. Is it exercise or do people gather somewhere and belly dance like other forms of dancing or is it just performed by women as entertainment for others? Should I?

    Some places teach it as an exercise but believe me, just learning it to dance it is terrific exercise and a wonderful skill to have;-)

    I did bellydancing in the 70s and enjoyed it immensely. My mother and I took the class together:-)

    ROCK ON! with your bad belly dancing self! HECK YEAH! you should belly dance.

    And then you should send me a vid. (In the Pocahontas braids, please).

    It actually is good exercise, and it strengthens your core. It's supposed to be good for all kind of lower back pain, toning, and even self esteem.

    It is strictly a woman thing. There are professional "belly dancers" and they perform for audiences, usually in very small gatherings. It is a Mid-Eastern thing. Very erotic, but highly respected. I would think it would be great exercise! Almost every joint and muscle appear to be in play...

    Do it for sure! Got me back in shape after each of my babies and it was the gift that kept on giving when I got home ;>]!! You can always stop if you don't like it, but I think you will have fun.

    it's a great form of exercise as so many have mentioned, but it also can provide you with self confidence and a renewed sense of sexuality.

    Actually bellydancing is seen as to be for others only by people who know very little about it, women in other countries where they are not allowed to do mucho for themselves took this opportunity to do something for themselves, so men thought it was meant to be for them to enjoy but bellydancing was their way to just have fun, and feel great about themselves, and i think you should at least try it, at the beginning its kinda awkward but the awkwardness goes away in about a month, its relatively easy if you compare it to other disciplines, try it! :D
