The bible condemns anything that isnt about singing praises to a malicious, genocidal, hating egotistical maniac.
you take a step left: GOING TO HELL
take a step right: GOING TO HELL
blow your nose(either one ;) ): GOING TO HELL
Murder thousands of innocent men, women, and children in the name of the "lord": go to heaven.
Why do you 'want' sexual relations outside of marriage?
.
Try to answer it.
Because 2000 year ago, there was no effective contraception, and a woman who found herself pregnant outside marriage would have no husband to support her bringing up the child, therefore would be poor and child would be poor and could starve. Also there was no way to tell paternity then, so a woman should only ever sleep with one man.
It's a case of rules which were quite sensible thousands of years ago being applied today when they are not as sensible.
It's kind of what the Bible is about...condemning everything and anything. Technically we shouldn't even be going to the bathroom if you read that thing.
Polygamy is described in many places in the Bible and it does not look like it would be condemned. (Okay, technically some of it took place with marriage).
Of course, you could find places which condemn this, but this does not apply to the Bible as a whole, which is more an heterogeneous collection of very different books.
The attitude to adultery bases mainly on the ethics of the people who wrote those texts, which happened many centuries ago.
This was also due to men having sex with sheep....thats where syphlis came from...they did not want that spread...plus there was all kinds of sex and orgies in the stories of the Bible....The Biblical perspective wanted sexual relations kept in the marriage due to it being for procreation....not feeling good...what???
Because it goes outside the desing of one flesh. Before conception sex meant babies and no man would deal with a woman who had a baby out of wedlock. Today even thought there concetpion there is still alot of problems and we see it every day. God had a design for man and when we venture outside that design that when we have problems.
This is a very good question. Many people have ask this question through the years.
According to the manual on marriage, the Holy Bible, marriage was instituted by God to be an institution of leaving and cleaving. A single male or female are to leave their single status and cleave to their mate of the opposite sex in the vowed institution of marriage becoming one flesh. They are, after committing to each other with vows in marriage, now in a one flesh union. They have therefore eliminated all others from the romantic, intimate, sexual etc.. aspects of their life. (According to the Bible sexual activity is for males and females who are married to an opposite sex person in marriage). All types of sexual relations outside of opposite sex marriage is sin according to the manual on sex and marriage, The Holy Bible.
(Reference Scriptures: Genesis 2:20-24; Romans 1:22-32; I Corinthians 7:2-7; Ephesians 5:22-32)
God knows what is best for us! After all, he made us and he gives us free choice!
To those who believe the Holy Scriptures, "God said it, I believe it and that settles it".
How far back in history can we find monogamous homosexual relationships? Please share your source or specific examples, not conjectures.

Does the act of intimacy constitute marriage? In other words, once a couple have sex, are they considered "married" in God's eyes?

thanx joe :) It's sad that there are so many spineless jellyfish out there that DR people without leaving a comment justifying their DR. To all trolls out there GROW SOME BALLS!! Have the testicular fortitude to state your reasons for DRing, and stop these acts of cowardice!
by DiSTurBiA on February 24th, 2008
I think I can guess why they DR'd us. Religion is a sore spot for a lot of people. Apparently if you bad mouth the bible, you get an automatic DR. Sad, but true.

Wow, calm down son. For one, you've got the Bible all wrong. It's about a loving God in His pursuit of man. How God had that relationship, yet man always ran away and broke the law. Have you read the Bible? Read the books of the prophets. This is where God expresses His deepest feelings about man's running away. He's absolutely heartbroken! He compares Himself to a betrayed lover, and a father of a prodical child. It's not about hate.
And btw, I downrated your answer because for one, it's hateful, and for another, it's wrong. Just thought you'd like to know.

and yet justifies murder and if it really happened global genocide, the biblical god is a egotistical maniac. The bible is a glorious record of death and destruction all in the name of maintaining a over inflated ego

Really? Prove it.

the flood, sodom, if someone is this way kill or shun them, women are viewed as property, have no real rights at all, they stone almost anyone that is in the least different, it orders to kill people for the most frivilous things, condones slavery, condones blood sacrifice, etc. The bible is more bloodstained than vlad the impaler, or hitler combined
by DiSTurBiA on March 13th, 2008
Hmm. Okay, well you're looking from your point of view. Look at it from God's point of view. God created these people to be good, He trys to lovingly get them to do what they should, and they don't. He gives them chance after chance, yet they go farther. They don't fulfill their purpose. What else can He do? What else should He do? He's told them many a time, and they didn't listen to Him, so there it goes...

Im looking at it from the point of view that yes is mine, from the eyes of a atheist, that I am now, and also from the point of view as a ex-catholic.
by DiSTurBiA on March 14th, 2008
Catholics. To be completely honest, as far as I'm concerned, Catholics mostly arent saved.
And to get the whole picture, you've got to look at all sides of it. One person only gets so much of the big picture, put the peices and you get the big picture.

I've been a catholic, lutheran, and I've seen the televangelist my dad watches, its like a american cars, different exterior styles, different names, same design, erm rather componants
by DiSTurBiA on March 14th, 2008
Not so much. Catholicism is a religion. It's about rules. The rules being that you have to go to church every sunday and go to confession. If you don't do this, rararar! For one, it's not biblically based. For another, such things aren't even IN the bible.
