  • I forgot to post this link...turn it up! I spent countless hours flying in these beautiful planes! http://www.flightlevel350.com/Aircraft_Lockheed_L-100_Hercules-Airline_Royal_Air_Force_Aviation_Video-7699.html
  • Yes. When I was in the 19th Army Band at Fort Dix, New Jersey (band now defunct), we had our own airplane assigned to us, a C-130 of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Seats are jump seats suspended from the side walls. There are windows to see, but they are over six feet above the floor. Most embarrassing part about the flight was the toilet. US Army bands have men and women. There was a huge paint bucket next to the side exit door with a black Army raincoat over it. You were to sit on the bucket, with the raincoat over your lap, and then pull down your pants with, hopefully, no one watching. It was also incredibly noisy. We all had to wear earplugs. Conversations were near impossible.
  • many many hours! lol! i was a 130 mechanic for 7 years and took a lot of rides in them. noisy, uncomfortable, either too hot or too cold. just a really lousy flight, but i loved'em anyway ;) the worst flight was going from the u.s. east coast to the u.k. only one stop along the way. if i remember right it's about a 20 hour trip, one way.
  • Yes. Flew some of them and they are s-l-o-w as turtles. Noisy & unconfortable. Either too-hot or too-cold during the flights. My 2 cents.
  • I walked through one on a static display and talked to some of the airmen who said it was a very safe plane but very noisy and not very comfortable for any lengthy trips.
  • Yes,I have spent many hours working in C-130's. I was an assembler installer on the original C-130 gunships. They have been highy modified since the time I worked on them. One of the jobs I had was installing the large radar domes on the nose of the planes. Just before installing the fairing cover over the hinge points I signed my name. I also helped install the miniguns as well as many of the other components. I also worked on the C-130 light ships. Not too many people knew about them.
