a percentage is taken as how many you won from how many you've played.

each time you play (regardless of if you win or lose), the number of games played goes up by one.

if you've played 1000 games and won 600 the percentage won is 60%

if you lose the next one, you've won 600 from 1001
and the next, 600 from 1002
then if you win the next you've won 601 from 1003

so each time you lose, the number of wins stays the same, but the number played goes up.
each time you win, the number played and the number won goes up.

not sure if that explains it - it might only just seem to take longer...

the example above implies that from 600 won in 1000 if you win the next five, your percentage goes up to 60.01%, but if you lose the next five it goes down a lot further to 59.7%

    600 out of 1000 = 60%
    601 out of 1001 = 60.03%
    605 out of 1005 = 60.01%
    where 600 out of 1001 = 59.94%
    600 out of 1005 = 59.70%
Percentages... now you know how baseball players feel about their batting averages.
