  • Just before 1AD was the year dot, and just before that was 1BC
  • Years back then weren't measured in BC and AD. They didn't wait for Jesus to be born so they could start from Zero and go up. Years went as: 1,000.....2,000.....3,000....4,000....5,000. That's why Jewish people still refer to the year "2008" as 5768. Back then when Jesus was born the year was actually somewhere near 3,700.
  • There is no year zero in AD/BC terms its just the year christ was born. If you want a 0 you'd have to go with CE. As in 10BCE and 0CE and 2008CE
  • it was the year 1BC
  • BC stands for "Before Christ". "AD" stands for in the year of the Lord. So, 1 year before Christ translates to 1BC or 1 year "Before Christ".
  • Thanks Guys, I still have a lot to learn!!
  • HELL ON EARTH LEVITICUS 20:13
  • The development of the calendar is pretty interesting. Lots of ideas about how to date things, took a while to settle on the current Roman calendar. I think the most recent change has been going from BC/AD to BCE. I still like ALTA and SAN. ...a long time ago...somewhere around now
  • 1 BC straight to 1 AD, there was no 0 BC or 0 AD which is why the millennium celebrations on 1st January 2000 were all 1 year premature. Politicians have trouble with counting at the best of times but I thought even they would be able to see that one lol ;)
  • "1BC"
  • It all depends on which calendar you wish to use. It was 753 Ab urbe condita under the Roman calendar. It was the 44th year the Julian calendar was in effect. It was about 3761 under the Hebrew calendar. The revised Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar applied themselves retroactively, and designate the year before 1 AD as 1 BC.
