Who did you think was going to win: Blu-ray or HD-DVD? Are you surprised at everyone dropping HD-DVD?

I always thought Blu-Ray would win. Like the VHS tape, it was the first to hit the American market and had more movies in the format.

I'm not surprised that HD-DVD didn't manage to win the format war. Even considering their consumer-unfriendly recent activities, Sony is tough to compete with. In addition, Blu-Ray is a technically superior format, with much higher capacity on the discs. The things HD-DVD had going for it were weaker digital rights management and no region-coding. Neither of those things were terribly attractive to the studios, though.

i always wanted blu-ray to win, but thought that people would follow past trends and go for the lesser quality item!
