I think we should study him... You know, a lobotopmy without anesthetics...see what makes him tick... That's what he deserves if he's to be kept alive, anyways... Or else, he's a waste of oxygen.

MrWitch, if I may ask... Your answer is rational. You don't seem to be a part of that revenge-mad mob down there, in the less-liked answers... How does it make you feel like? And what's your opinion on the general tone of the answers to this question (i.e., "evil monster")?

I can easily understand people who want wrong-doers 'removed' (preferably fatally). It makes them feel safer, comforted, protected. And it's an illusion.
Unless we understand why something like this happens, we are in no better place to respond when it, or something like it, happens again. We cannot act to prevent it happening because we don't know why it happened in the first place.
So to preserve our own sense of 'safety', by demanding the unpleasant removal of the perpetrator, we end by not reducing the chance of such events happening again. Queue vicious circle, which politicians and press purveyors have been feeding off for decades.
Knowledge is power - it always is. Therefore, to gain knowledge about such events will enhance our ability to prevent or limit their damaging occurence.
As a species, we've got almost as much information as we can out of dead bodies. For the crime problems society faces now, we need to get information out of live ones. To do otherwise leaves us in danger, it's that simple.

Why Allow Him To Live ? Justice Not Served If He Gets To Walk Away. His Life Should Be Treated The Way He Treated Human Life

Who said anything about 'walking away'? His future is either life imprisonment or a death sentence. In one he might provide answers to some questions which need answering. In the other he gets buried and society remains ignorant.
I'd prefer society to get some answers. If the prime purpose of any government, local or national is to keep it's citizens safe, then government abdicates it's responsibility by pressing for the killing of the man.
This will be justified on the grounds of an eye for an eye (as you have), or cost, or 'justice'. It isn't 'justice' to deliberately lose an opportunity to learn from this man's actions and from him, and thereby increase the possibility of a repeat by someone else.
