Why would a guy get a phone and wait almost a week and a half to give his girlfriend his new number?

To give her time to overanalyze the situation and get all nervous about "what it means," and ask others about the "meaning" of the stuff guys do that has no meaning. Maybe he didn't give it to anyone. Maybe he wanted to be sure he liked the phone. Maybe he hadn't memorized the number himself yet.

What did he say when you asked him? You DID ask him before posting this question on AB right?!? Maybe he felt you are being a little too clingy and he wanted to give you chance to back off. Maybe you two are drama addicts and he wanted you to flip out and wonder why he didn't give you the number. The list goes on. Immediate bunch panties not seem necessary. :-P
