  • Technically, any word processor can be used for this purpose. Scan each page and then import them, one by one, into the word processor as images. Place each image on a separate page. This does, however, force you to have a copy of the word processor installed on any machine you wish to read the document on. If you purchase Adobe Acrobat - not the reader they give away for free - you can create PDF files, which are more portable and convenient. Adobe sells four versions of Acrobat: Elements (the cheapest), Standard, Professional, and 3D. Any of these will allow you to create a PDF file in conjunction with a word processor, such as Microsoft Word.
