  • No but it's hard to tell my 15 1/2 year old that.
  • Some definitely shouldn't. I'm 17, and I've always been a pretty good driver. My parents wouldn't have let me get my license if they hadn't been comfortable with the way I drive.
  • Most 16 year olds can't be trusted with pool noodles, much less large moving pieces of machinery.
  • I think rather than judge when someone can drive by their age, it should be decided by two things: 1) They're physically able to drive, and; 2) They're mature enough to drive responsibly.
  • No. I realize now that I barely escaped my 16th year alive. Let's keep them off the road.
  • No. I am 16 and I don't think I or my friends are ready to drive. They don't know actual laws, but they sort of treat it like a video game. I know I won't drive until I'm 18 or older. Plus, the insurance companies jack up rates for 16 year olds.
  • No! I'm sorry 16 is way to young for a person to drive. If I had my way, I would put the age to legally drive up to 21. It's a documented fact most accidents invlove under 21's.
  • You gotta learn sometime. Lessons should be mandatory.
  • If they know how and are responsible drivers and have drivers licenses and car insurance, why not? I drove at 16 and never got a ticket or had a wreck.
  • Only if they take, pay attention and pass the defensive driving class. I think they need to view videos of what happens in certain situations with wrecks. I don't believe a person can comprehend how easy it is to mess up until they actually see it. They would also be taught to think ahead in different situations and possible ways to avoid accidents. I really wish they would make this one of the requirements to get a license.
  • on a private farm they will be helpful.
  • When I was 16 the answer would have been 'absolutely'. Now I am 48 and have a 14 year old daughter and my answer is 'hell no'. I am going to prepare my kids as best I can but the thought of them driving scares me.
  • Absolutely! At what other age would you suggest they start driving so that they will gain sufficient experience to support their goal of attaining self-sufficient adulthood at the age of 18?
  • i`m 16 and yes... i do think some of us should be allowed to take the test. it would be a lot easier for me to get to college and go work on time. rather than getting the public transport which takes me like 2 hours to get to college.
