I know that feeling...I experienced the same thing when I stopped taking effexor. The only thing you really can do is soldier through it. It doesn't last forever.

Is it okay to take another anti-depressant pill since I don't have those? I have leftover Lexapro and I'm thinking about taking it, I'm so paranoid I even cut it in half. Will that hurt me?

Why have you been unable to take it for three days? Are you out? If you go to the emergency room, they can refill your script, or tell you how to take yourself off of it safely, and likely without any effects. You need to discontinue anti-depressants slowly, or results can be devastating. I strongly encourage you to seek medical attention.

OHMYGOD!!! you must be dying!!1 effexor has the harshesdt withdrawl of all prescription drugs, equal to that of heroin. why on earth aren' you taking it? if you go to your pharmacy they will give you a few emergency pills. Take one and you'll start to feel better within 40 min. I was on it for 4 years and decided to go off it last summer. I worked it out with my dr about the withdrawl plan. He said i could do it in 2 weeks going down 37.5 every few days... it took me over 2 months to finally go off. I was going down 10mg at a time. It's horrible shit. seriously. The noises you hear are called "brain zaps". you'll also get horrible vertigo which will make you wanna puke and have the tracers started yet? (where if you turn your head really quick it's like you see tracers of what you were looking at, like a stop motion photo). the headaches are HORRIBLE. ugh, i wish you luck! but seriously, go to wherever you prescription is from and get a few emergency pills. Pharmasits know this stuff is bad to go off of.

I ran out of them and that's why I haven't been taking them. I knew I should have checked to see if I had more left but I forgot. My dad even called the pharmacy to get me a prescription for more but they screwed it up and gave me the wrong ones! I am feeling pretty bad right now, I feel really jittery and I'm crying a lot at the slightest thing that goes wrong. I wish that somebody would pick some up for me because I'm desperate :( I haven't got any headaches yet, but I'm really dizzy and feel like I'm going to pass out any second.

Someone please talk to me I'm getting more and more upset because I feel all alone. I don't want to feel any more sick than I do now. :(

Doctors do sometimes prescribe SSRI's (Lexapro being one I'm less familiar with, however) when people go off of Effexor. It is a HORRIBLE drug to go off of and you need to convince your father that you need to do everything in your power to get a prescription. EVEN IF you do not want to stay on it long term, it is incredibly unfair for a family member to let you go off of that drug cold turkey. I went off of it slowly and it still was possibly the worst I have ever felt. Whether or not it helped me is irrelevant in my opinion because of the awful withdrawls. I might start back up on Wellbutrin...haven't taken anything for years, and Effexor didn't help me that much anyway. If it helps you, keep taking it, but don't stay on it just to avoid the withdrawls. Just find a way to taper off very very slowly if you decide to do that...Good luck! Many others including myself have made it though the withdrawl, and you can too!

You should probably resume your treatment or call the doctor immediately or go to ER. Sometimes these symptoms can be quite serious.

How many mgs a day are you taking? You should be cutting down VERY slowly. When I came off Effexor I felt like I was going to die. In fact I was wishing I would die. Those zaps are quite normal in coming off Effexor as it vertigo and the noises in your head. Also insomnia, social isolation, extremely poor concentration and memory loss. I once went to my local railway station and got lost! Also everytime I went on a train I would always get off at the wrong station no matter how hard I tried to get it right. I was scared out of my wits. I was on 300mgs. You should not just stop taking it and go cold turkey. Cond
