My car runs great cold, but after it warms up (Normal operating temp) I have to manually shift (auto. trans) down to first otherwise it seems like I am pulling a train. If I put it in 1st or 2nd it takes off fine but 3rd or D it doesn't. Help?

Sounds like a trans problem. What year and engine? There might be a Trans Valve (TV) cable that needs adjusted.

Here's what I'm thinking. Once the engine gets warm enough to go into closed loop (when the computer takes full control of the engine) The trans is either stuck in 3rd or 4th or the torque converter clutch is turning on when it's not supposed to.There may be codes stored in the computer that can help us. If you go to an Autozone or other name brand parts store they have a scan tool to pull codes. They will normally do it for free. Write down descripions and numbers and see what they can find. Try this find the 10 amp alarm fuse and pull it. It powers the TCC. See if removing the fuse helps. Also, check the ound 7 pin connector (with 5 wires) that connects to the trans. Make sure it looks good and nothing is corroded or broken. Let me know..
