Are you referring to the sayings "It's on the house"? If you are, it generally means you are given something by someone who thinks you deserve it. eg You fix a barman's leaky tap for free - he might give you a beer and say "It's on the house" - meaning there is no charge.

A free trip from New Zealand (where I was living) to Europe and then the return trip to New Zealand. Now that is what I call "on the house." The people who shouted me the trip I had met previously in Brazil. They shouted me to Europe (starting in Amsterdam) about 1 year later.

Dessert at a local restaurant called "Max and Ermas". Our food took forever and we got some free dessert. Their slogan there is "Desserts is stressed spelled backwards, coincidence?" I like that restaurant
