  • Mostly it has a good deal to do with how the film is made. There are educational sex films where sex is shown between humans. They are "dry" and informative and not designed to cause arousal in the individual watching. "Pornography" is designed to cause arousal - it is not a "dry documentary" on the mating habits of humans, it is designed with a "story line" (I use that term very loosely) which is set in such a way as to invoke a fantasy a sex fantasy. Further, most porn does not film from a discreet distance, instead it gets close up and personal and attempts to convey the activity in such a manner as too cause arousal in the viewer. Animals sex usually does not cause arousal in humans. In documentary format we watch from a distance while the narrator tells us "interesting" facts such as the amount of time the female can hold the sperm in her before actual conception, or that one male mates with 13.5 females in the course of mating season, or that mating season lasts between X and Y and the male spends the rest of the time alone.... One does not get this kind of interesting data from pornography.
