It's not really true. This is only correct if you have divorced and remarried civilly. If this is NOT the case, then you really only have to go to confession for your part in the failure of the marriage and then start taking communion. If, however, you have divorced your first wife and have married again, then according to the Catechism you are committing adultery because you have unfinished business with the first marriage. Fortunately, annullments are much easier to get these days.
