  • if the cop doesnt have his lights on, i dont want to be the reason he puts his lights on (i dont want a ticket) if the cop has his lights on, slow down and move the heck out of the way, he probably has somewhere more important to be than you do at that moment.
  • Less chance of them stopping them and finding half of Columbia in the trunk.
  • LOL!! That's funny, but I do it! Even if I'm going the speed limit and wearing my seat belt!
  • They're thinking about where they put their weed.
  • well, legally they are supposed to slow down, and pull over to the right and stop...anything to keep the center lanes open for the police cars to pass
  • they are scared that the officer mighr be having a bad day and will get them....Plus they might not have insurance or license..
  • The cop might steal their coffee and donuts when they pull them over.
  • Police will pull you over if your going the correct speed limit but you pass them on the road.. odd I know but most of them will do this.
  • They are probably afraid that they will get caught speeding.
  • Out of sight, out of mind. I distance myself and let them move waaaaaay ahead. I have a lead foot and don't need another ticket.
  • cuz they might have warrants like me and I aint trying to get pulled over///
  • Probably to be on the safe side. If the foot gets a little bit heavy and you speed up a bit, you are still under the posted limit. But I bet those who slow down the most are those who have the most to hide. There was an interesting example of the guilt syndrome here on the news about a week ago. A state trooper was following a car doing 30 in a 50 MPH zone. Suddenly, the car turned off into a driveway and parked. The driver got out and entered the house. The trooper pulled in behind the car, followed to the door and knocked. When the guy came out, the cop asked him what he was doing. "I live here." the guy slured. "No, you don't." the trooper announced. "I know because this is MY house!" as he handcuffed the drunk.
  • They have no choice. The manufacturers install an automatic break on all cars that causes them to panic when they see a cop car. But since you're so smart, I'm sure you would have no problems removing that system from your own car and going by them at least 100 mph when you see one
  • Probably because they were above the speed limit before they saw the cops
  • Its psychological. Same applies to a neighbor, who is a police officer and his police vehicle sits in his driveway.
  • They get scared. I hat it when people do that.
  • Some people do it because they believe that it shows a certain degree of respect to the authority. These are the same people who, when pulled over, will respond with a "Yes, sir/m'am" or a "No, sir/m'am" when questioned. I happen to be one of them...and I'm one of the foremost people to have collected mostly "warnings" when stopped for speeding. BTW, I never pass a cop, either. I just hope he heads off at the next exit. :-) +5
