When you're a home owner, isn't the mortgage company supposed to send you a paper telling you how much interest you paid for the year to file with your taxes? Whats this paper called?

I think the informal name for it is "annual statement" or "yearly statement". IIRC the formal name for it is "1099 form".

Yes, I believe they are supposed to send you such a paper just like banks tell you how much interest you earned during a year, but I do not know what it is called.

I would think they should. But I can't honestly answer this question due to the fact we bought our house with cash and therefore no mortgage.

Yes. We just got ours. I don't know what the name of the form is, but it says "Loan Year-To-Date Activity" on the top of the page. It has the amount paid to interest, the amount payed to escrow, and the total yearly payment.

Yes, mailed on or before January 31st. The form # is 1098.
