  • Well to truly understand what the British invasion meant in 1964 you'd have to understand what kind of music was popular in America at the time. The Beatles & Stones were a huge breath of fresh air. Something entirely different than the manufactured pop (think NSync/Backstreet Boys for a comparison) of that time. Of course the Beatles and the Stones continued to have a great impact after that initial shock. That's because they pretty much changed music and everything that has happened since has been directly attributable to them. Without the Beatles I don't know what music would be like today. They were that important and that influential. You can't take them out of the timeline and have it make any sense.
