I always preferred MacroMedia FreeHand when I worked in the product packaging business; but unfortunately, it's pretty much gone the way of the dodo and I'm force to switch to Adobe Illustrator.

Adobe Photoshop, but I'm using linux so I'll have to settle for The Gimp.

fireworks, photoshop, gimp, inkscape, blender, combustion, aftereffects, maya, 3ds max.... oh and zack, you can use them on linux... takes a while to set up though. the 3d tools, I have to use vmware, but they work. I have fireworks and photoshop working under wine. my system is 64-bit so its still possible ;)
