There is a chance that the problem is simply being caused by a change in food, or by the stress of moving. If your cat was from a shelter or adoption center, I suggest giving them a call and describing the situation. Ask them if this was a problem with this cat before the adoption. Ask them if they have a vet that can see the cat, or if they can recommend a low-cost clinic you can take it to. If they aren't of any help, or if you got your cat from another source, call a local vet and explain the situation. Sometimes they can arrange a payment plan, and sometimes they can give you some free advice over the phone that should hold you until you can afford the appointment. Whatever happens, be sure you take the cat to the vet ASAP, even if the diarrhea problem stops. You should get your new family member a check-up anyway.

if you are giving the cat can can food that is probably the problem. try giving the cat dry cat food. i know when i had my cat and gave her canned cat food she had the runs but was gone after i started giving her dry cat food

Worming worked for us - buy something from the pet store. But you really must take her to the vets as soon as you can.

Also make sure, and this is vital, that she has plenty of fluids to drink.

In Australia they are called the RSPCA I am not sure what the equivalent is there in America. Here if you have no money you can take your animal to them and they will pay for a vet to treat the cat and then you pay the RSPCA back. Most Vets are very kind and love animals, I am sure if you explained your situation they would allow you to pay it off. If they say no find one that says yes. :)

One of my kitties had the runs, and I took her to the vet as soon as I could. He gave her, of all things, a dropperful of Imodium. He said it is safe to give to your cats if they get the runs. A dropperful twice a day cured her in 3 days.

You could get medicine from the pharmacy that is intended for babies and give it to her with a dropper x

Since you just got her, you might have changed her diet, maybe drastically. Cats generally don't tolerate diet change very well and it irritates their intestines, which causes the "runs". It should clear up on it's own. You could find out what her old food was and get her back on it. Make sure she gets enough water. She loses water by having diarrhea. I put water in wet food and mix it up to endure my cats get enough water.

Did you ever get her to the vet? Diarrhea can kill an animal - just like people. Dehydration and lack of nutrition can do brain damage. Please get this cat to the vet and bring a sample of the runny poop.

is it a kitten or adult?
