Eight. Curling is played between two teams of four curlers each, with team members named for the usual order in which they play. The lead plays first, then the second, the third, and finally the fourth; the fourth is typically the skip (team captain) but not always. For example, Randy Ferbey throws third and Russ Howard throws second. The position at which the skip (team captain) throws will be renamed with skip.
