  • Change the channel quick before the kid gets nightmares!
  • If the kid wants to watch it, I'd let him/her. I can sit next to the child and read a book or something.
  • Not all kids like Barney, many children aren't even allowed to watch TV.
  • Ah, now that would never happen. HOW could anyone hate Barney? He's a giant purple dinosaur. Come on. But, for the sake of the question, I'll pretend I hate him. I would see if there was anything else on and if there wasn't, I'd change it back to Barney. I'm that nice ;)
  • When I used to babysit, I took age appropriate distractions with me...color books, legos, etc. just so when something as ubiquitous and baleful as Barney came on I could distract the children with pastimes that encouraged imagination and sharing.
  • Been there....hate Barney but I just put up with it knowing I was going to go home where there was no Barney!
  • if it makes the kid happy then i'd watch Barney
  • Turn off the damn idiot-box. Who's the grown-up here, anyway?
  • Actually this happened to me. Since the mom is demanding, I left it on.
  • I used to do games and stuff myself first, but Dora was what helped me get him to take a nap. I can't stand Dora, but I would put it on and rock him anyway. I figured I may as well suck it up, I was only going to have to put up with it for at most a half an hour, usually ten minutes.
