How do you get a basset hound to stop stealing things? There's no way to get her to follow voice commands. No matter what you do, it's a fun game to her. We can't catch her and if she thinks you'll want it, she'll grab it.

She sounds fun...but perhaps you should take her to obedience school. :)

Our dog is the same way. It's really hard, but you need to steel yourself to not chase her when she takes something. At first some things might get destroyed, but after a few times of walk away from her, turn your back and ignore her, it should get easier. My dog still snatches my slippers when I take them off, but he has settled down with most things. Maybe getting older helped. He was terrible as a puppy. I just go outside and pick up my slipper after he has forgotten it.
