  • I can only tell you how uninstall IE. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 They make it ridiculously complicated, of course.
  • You don't have to uninstall Internet Explorer. Open Firefox. Go to Tools, Options, Main and on System Defaults click on "check now" and it will ask you if you want Firefox as the Default. Click Yes and OK. Now Firefox will be your default browser. Internet Explorer will stay there, but it won't open unless you want to open it.
  • I just installed firefox and made it my default browser. I also have installed Opera, which has some cool features. I still use IE for many things because of the interface with MS Office OneNote. With IE, I can send a page directly to OneNote for later referral.
  • I'm not 100% sure; maybe we have a programmer on site that can tell you for sure, but as far as I know IE is integrated to the point that you can't do this. I hope I'm wrong because Firefox is so much more stable and secure than IE. The same is true of Thunderbird vs Outlook. Best of luck. I'm interested to know the outcome.
  • No you cannot use firefox as a file browser. First of all firefox doesn't support local system file browsing with the features of windows explorer. On firefox if you goto file://<a local directory location here> you will see that it won't be very user friendly. Try using the IETab extension for firefox and then navigate to a local directory and I think you will find what you're looking for. :)
