  • Starting to have damaged pixels. i would get it sent back if guarantee is still valid.
  • How old is it? If it was already like this when you bought it, you should return it. If it is older, or its out of warranty, it may simply be reaching the end of it's life. I dont know what the average operating life of a plasma is vs. an LCD display, while usually the whole display starts to have problems (color trouble, dimming, repeatedly turning off, etc) the red dots may be a warning sign. Unfortunately I do not think there is any way to fix it. If the problem gets worse or the TV has gotten to the point where its hardly usable anymore, its time for a new tv :(
  • i work at a retail store and let me say this...it is normal for the lg to get what we call "the red plague" it has happened to EVERY lg plasma we have had on our displays...i would not let my mom buy an lg plasma...dont worry they fixed it on the new panels..instead of red...is now green.....GARBAGE!!!!
  • We call LG "Low Grade" the problem you are seeing is very common, the Ysus modules are not fast enough to keep up with the video - instead of dealing with the problem LG sent servicers a notice showing how to lower the drive voltages enough to mask the problem. This also lowers the contrast on the set greatly & just puts a band-aid on the real issue of a crappy design
  • I'm seeing this too and this is a replacement TV for another LG which had decayed pixels (different problem to the red dots) after only several months use. It's out of factory warranty now but I do have an extended warranty, I hope this is covered.
  • I have a 42PC5D that started to have this problem after a tech came out to fix blown HDMI ports. The tech replaced the main board on the TV, which fixed the HDMI ports, but caused the red speckles. I called LG today and they had me reset the TV to factory settings and much to my surprise, it worked! Having read about the problem online a lot I was assuming I'd need to have another tech come out. If you want to try it yourself, it's easy. Just turn off the TV, unplug it, then hold the power button down for 30+ seconds, then plug back in. YMMV, but it worked for me.
  • I have samsung 42" plasma tv and it has same kind of problem but it started from left.. mix color lines of dots .. white, red, purple and many more.. now half tv is covered with dots...
  • To Access the Service Menu: Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence. You should now see the service menu. To exit the Service Menu always select RESET. That worked in my case. This is specific to samsung
