  • I always pronounce it as "aych", and I'm under the impression that everyone around me has also pronounced it as such. Oh look, Wikipedia says that in English, it's usually pronounced as aitch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H
  • It has to be 'aych'~when you look it up in a dictionary it's spelt as 'aitch'. The other pronunciation i've only began to notice recently and I have to say it really irritates me.
  • Depends where you're from. I pronounce it as "aitch" (which, you'll note, doesn't have an "h" sound in it). I think most Scottish people pronounce it "aitch". But I've met lots of people who say "haitch". Just like "z" - Americans say "zee", British folk say "zed" - neither is right or wrong. Another one is "j" - I pronounce it "jay" but my mother (and lots of others I know) pronounces it "jie".
  • I personally say Haaitch but that is how I was taught at school. Wouldn't the world be boring if we were all exactly the same. The important thing though is when to put an or a before h. So you would write an orange but a hospital..agree. An SQL table as S in this case is pronounced ess QL. A lot of people write an hotel which can never be possible unless you drop the h and say otel, like some people from the South of England do. It seems the letter H is difficult in many ways.
  • I say Haych, its how we were taught in school.
