Yes he was. He was badly injured in Tibet after discovering a group of people enslaved by the mysterious Lucifer, who turned out to be an alien working to help plan an invasion of Earth. Charles Xavier helped lead the people to revolt against Lucifer, but in the battle, was crippled when a large stone was thrown onto him by Lucifer. Now, as a paraplegic, Charles knew he couldn't fight evil mutants head on, so he decided to start a school where he could train and direct young mutants to help protect humanity from those evil mutants that would try to oppress humanity and therefore set back his cause for equality with humans and mutants. Those that have graduated from his school and show true talent become a part of an elite strike-force known as The X-Men.

He has Walked in the past - As exampled by the first reply - And he has walked since, due to various circumstances, but he has always been returned to his chair somehow or another.

I belive that in one epsiode his legs are healed but then agin get injured again

My name is Xavier, and I am walking at this moment, 5:00 AM, Monday morning, 7-23-07. I will stop by a local Clinic in order to get treatment for my left leg. I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago and now it spread to my leg. It hurts when I try to get out of bed. While seating and walking it feels like numb and it bothers and hurts too........Isn't this a coincidence? A question about a Xavier and problems trying to walk. I can walk, but with trouble..... I know you are not talking about me, but here is my answer!
