Usually nightmares have nothing to do with reality. Nightmares and bad dreams are usually a result of a citical real situation. So if you clear your real situation you will get lost of your nightmares. Just like a code which is hard to understand, nightmares come up showing you that in your real life there is a real problem.

Nightmares usually depend on real conflicts which are worked up in our subconscious. Just similar to a PC our subconscious is trying to wipe out all that what came up to our daily life and our mind is at night during the sleep trying to clean our hard disk and by this action all types of feelings and clusters are mixed up. But it is clear that daily problems can show up and cause nightmares. Especially unsolved conflicts can show up. So a quiet temper gives people a good sleep. Relationships with troubled feelings quite often cause nightmares so you better solve them.

The similar experience I can think of is having a sex dream and then feeling shy or embarrassed around the person involved the next time I see them. But I can't think of when a nightmare did this. All of my nightmares are about monsters, anyway, or else injured animals, and don't involve anyone I actually know (the ones I remember, anyway). Yours sounds really scary! Maybe you should tell your Dad about it -- you might find that releases you from the odd feelings.
