I stick with american. I think it goes best with the tomato slices. It also give it that old-fashioned Gram feel.
-
while i prefer american for a grilled cheese sandwich, i'll use just about any kind of cheese.
-
I always buy different cheeses to try them out, but my favorites are brie, cheddar, gouda, and goat cheese.
-
Roquefort?

Any cheese which is in the home at that moment.

American. Being in a grilled cheese sandwich is the only purpose of American cheese, isn't it? Well, that's the only thing I use it for, anyway.

Well, I'm proud to use American, cause it melts so easily. And I put on two full slices when I do make my grilled cheese. :) Thanks to the guy who wrote I'm Proud to be an American.

I use sourdough bread with melted swiss, american, cheddar, and fontina (if I have it, if not than substitute mozarella). Use REAL butter and grill both sides until golden brown. Try a little bit of prosciutto in there too if you have it. It makes for like a really cheesy, melty panini-type sandwich! Okay... LUNCH TIME! lol.
-
I used to use american. If I make one in the future, I'll probably use swiss.
-
kraft singles. yum. smell it?
-
I use American cheese from the deli. It is so much gooier and tastier than the Kraft singles, in my opinion. I bought some nice thick slices of cheddar from the deli and made grilled cheese with it a few weeks ago but it turned out extremely greasy and oily.. I wouldn't recommend it.
-
Any cheese I have that melts easily. Usually Kraft singles. Try this... Next time you make one, instead of using butter, use Hellmans mayo. Im serious it sounds discusting and Im not usually that brave at all... but it is delicious!
-
I like Colby but it really depends on what you like. Try different kinds you might find a favorite. Try some thinly sliced onions on it sometime.
-
i just made a grilled cheese with sliced havarti...the cheese melted beautifully and the mild taste of the cheese was great...of course with a mug of hot cream of tomato soup...
