Yep. If you cut a potato in half, put in in water for awhile it will grow (poisonous) roots. Also the apple seeds are alive and ready to grow.

yes. also,what may be considered dead for you are alive for others.

Alive cells, yes, plus eating them gives them a second "life" so to speak, because they become part of my life (which, unfortunately is in the long, drawn out process of dying).
