  • God is aware of the imperfect state of mankind. When Jesus judges us - it will be according to his Fathers loving, righteous standards. Christ can read our hearts. Consider theses two scriptural thoughts: “All creation keeps on groaning together and being in pain together until now,” said Paul. (Romans 8:22) Mental distress is just one of the painful legacies of imperfection. God knows this. The Apostle John wrote to his fellow believers: “By this we shall know that we originate with the truth, and we shall assure our hearts before him as regards whatever our hearts may condemn us in, because God is greater than our hearts and knows all things.” —1 John 3:19, 20.
  • God loves him regardless if he got saved or not. He has an illness. :)
  • We trust that in God's hands; he is merciful on his children. That person has faith; now because of a disease it is hidden- but that person has saving faith. And God sees that; he sees that Jesus' death covers that diseased individual as surely as any who have faith.
  • Judge Not Lest U be Judged??? Isn't someones "Personal Relationship (Salvation)" with his Creator(God)just that, "Personal"??? Kinda sounds to me that U've not even taken the time to try & Understand Exactly what they are Afflicted with & how U should Respond if at All??? Don't ask Us to "Justify" Ur actions towards this person. John
  • This question really hits home for me, because I have a family member with paranoid schizophrenia. I don't wish to be found guilty of infantilizing the mentally ill, but at the same time I think their situation is similar to that of children. I just don't think God will hold accountable those who cannot understand/control themselves. That said, I work daily with the mentally ill (dementia, usually) and honestly, I see more God in those people than in my whole church. There's nothing at all like having someone who can't form a coherent sentence or feed herself tell you that "God is going to bless you for what you've done for me." As a rule, they're all about what they can do for you. My relative, on the other hand, can be very trying. At some level, you just have to realize that it's the disease, not him. I am sure God does the same.
  • God does not turn His back on someone just because they have a mental illness. He knows the heart better than we do. God cuts through the fog and speaks to the person at depths we cannot even fathom. If they belonged to Him when they were lucid, they belong to Him when they are not. 1 John 4:18 says " 18There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear..." Don't be afraid. Jesus said "I will be with you to the end of the age." Cling to that.
