  • A cat-back system has the stock dump pipes coming out of the engine/turbo, and all (or some) of the stock catalytic converters. A turbo-back system will have a custom manifold coming from the turbine housings, and a complete exhaust system past that. Turbo-back systems are more for higher performance/custom turbo setups where you need better exhaust flow the whole way through - where the standard downpipe/cat setup is insufficient. If you go this way you would need to check for legality and emissions compliance, because the cats are part of the emission control system. Alter them or remove them and you could make the car illegal to drive.
