Sorry to say, but smell or not what you are describing is most likely your body's way of attacking a wound and foreign object (the earing). It is an accumulation of white blood cells -- puss. It is not soap. If the puss becomes yellowish, smells bad, or when the pierced area become warm with red streaks it's time to see a doctor. Those are all signs of a more serious infection. Wash you hands before you touch any piercing. Clean the area and your earrings with rubbing alcohol.
