i have no idea, but why don't you pop into a beauty shop where they will do your eyeshadow and everything else for you, maybe have an appointment and ask them general tips :)

Use a proper eyeshadow brush rather than one of those fiddly little applicators that come with the pots of eyeshadow. This will make a lot of difference - it's worth spending a little money to get a decent one - The Body Shop do a nice set of make up brushes that will do nicely. There are no rules per se for professional looking eyeshaw, but the easiest thing is to buy a trio pot with three of the same colour in different shades - most make-up ranges do them. Don't go for cheap, as it looks powdery, but mid-price, such as Max Factor is usually fine. The idea is that you apply the lightest colour all over your eylid, socket and browbone (right up to the brows) and then use your finger to blend the edges. then take the next lightest colour and apply it into the crease of your socket (where the eylid meets your face) and blend again, using the brush this time. Finally use the darkest colour to apply a thick-ish line right above your top lashes, extending outwards just a fraction over the corner of your eye, and underneath the eye as well if you like, and use the brush again to blend slightly upward and outward (you can leave it unblended for a more dramatic look)
