  • I can not speak for Christendom, however as a Christian and a serious Bible student, I can share with you what Jehovah's Witnesses believe. The Bible does not specify the time of either the creation or the disappearance of dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made “flying creatures” and “great sea monsters.” Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.—Genesis 1:20-24. One theory from a As an archaeologist and geologist, is with regard to the time of their disappearance, the articles stated that human fossils occur in rock layers well above those containing dinosaur fossils and that there are rock layers in between. In many parts of the world, these intervening rock layers, or strata, also contain fossils. Many new varieties, or kinds, of animals appear in these layers, such as elephants, saber-toothed cats, and several varieties of flightless running birds. This would strongly suggest that God was still creating new animals after the dinosaurs were gone and that the dinosaurs disappeared during the sixth creative epoch. When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. The Bible text does not conflict with scientific theories about the age of the universe; we may also leave open the question of the age and origin of geologic strata. The Bible says nothing at all about the formation of sedimentary layers, whether at the time of the Flood or earlier. All the voluminous writings of creationists on this subject have been motivated by the desire to reconcile the existence of the geologic column and its fossils, dinosaurs and all, with the claim for a 6- to 10-thousand-year age of the earth. If this claim is invalid, all the rest of the argument is beside the point. Many Christians believe that the creative days in genesis were not literal 24 hour periods. Why would they have to be? God is in no hurry, he has always been around. Certainly his view of time is different than mans. If geologists want to say that the earth is 4 billion years old, or astronomers want to make the universe 20 billion years old, the Bible student has no quarrel with them. The Bible simply does not indicate the time of those events. The next point to note is that the word “day” is used in many different senses in the Bible. It does not always mean a 24-hour period. Sometimes it means only the hours of sunlight, that is, 12, more or less. Sometimes it stands for a year. Sometimes it means the years during a certain generation. In several references a day is 1,000 years, and in some even longer. No doubt the days in Genesis chapter 1 were very much longer. But the Bible does not there say how long they were. “Christians” who believe in “creationism” and the dogma of a literal 6 day - 144 hour creative period have misrepresented God and His Word and have stumbled many people. • They were Adam and Eve's great, great, GREAT! grandparents.
  • It really doesn't matter what the different religions have to say about where dinos came from. By the time any religions came about, the dinos were dead and gone for 65 million years. When early humans did find dino bones, they thought the bones were from giant people. Some religions will try to convence you that man and dinosaurs coexisted, which is totaly untrue, fossil records prove that. And NO, Noah never had any dinos on his ark. When I used to go to church, the subject of dinosaurs never came up in any church services. Us kids used to talk about them from time to time, but never in a religious matter, we knew better.
  • the dinosaurs were put in place by the devils angels (scientist of course) millions of years ago.the good book says so...skrilla 3:16 ^_^
  • look at them as sort of Jehovah God's giant lawn mowers. can you imagine what earth must have looked like after thousands of years of vegetation growing and never having being cut? holy cannoli! so then to make these vegans disappear, the carnivores were created, until they for the most part died out or ate each other. anyways as perryman so eloquently put it the bible doesn't give specifics. all i know is i am very happy they were gone before i came into existance. they are a testimony to the wisdom of a very loving creator.
  • 1) here a Catholic view: "About the role of the Bible, Catholics believe that it is inspired by God, that it teaches the truth, and that it is important as an authoritative basis for our faith. But, unlike Protestants (especially Evangelicals), we do not believe that it is the entire basis of our faith. We understand that the Bible was written to help the Church in its mission of preserving and spreading the word of Christ, not to replace the Church in this mission. As such it must always be interpreted in the context in which it was written (that is, within the tradition of the Apostolic Church), as well as in which it is being read (for example, in 1500 there was no reason for anyone not to believe that the 6-day creation was historical, now we know better). Which brings up the second point. The Bible teaches truth, but that truth may be historical, metaphorical, allegorical, ethical, mythological, or poetic. Some parts of the Bible are historical, and this historicity is critical to our faith (e.g., the Resurrection). Other parts are myth or allegory (which is how most but not all Catholics would view the Genesis creation story), where the critcal point is to search out the underlying truth (in this case, that God created the universe). For still other parts of the Bible, it is not important whether a story is historical or not; for example, the lessons in the Book of Job are the same whether Job was a real man or a fictional character. " "Supposedly the dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago. But the bible writers saw no reason to cover history prior to man coming to Earth, as no moral teachings would be incorporated in such stories. " Source and further information: http://www.beliefnet.com/boards/message_list.asp?boardID=50866&discussionID=539124 2) here a young creationist view: "The Bible refers to many the common animals we know today. The list includes lions, wolves, bears, sheep, cattle and dogs along with various kinds of birds, rodents, reptiles, and insects. What is interesting is that this extensive list includes three animals that we no longer recognize. These three are (in the original Hebrew language) tanniyn, b@hemowth (yes, it’s spelled correctly—at least as close as we can get in Roman characters), and livyathan." "Reading the Bible carefully, you will realize that no living creature matches the descriptions of behemoth and Leviathan. However, if you grab your kid’s dinosaur book, you will notice several possible matches for each one. " Source and further information: http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/dinos.shtml 3) "Behemoth, is generally translated by "great beasts"; in its wider signification it includes all mammals living on earth, but in the stricter sense is applied to domesticated quadrupeds at large. However in Job, xl, 10, where it is left untranslated and considered as a proper name, it indicates a particular animal. The description of this animal has long puzzled the commentators. Many of them now admit that it represents the hippopotamus, some Young Earth Creationists think it's a dinosaur like the Apatosaurus or the Brachiosaurus, so well known to the ancient Egyptians; it might possibly correspond as well to the rhinoceros. " Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_animals_in_the_Bible 3) here some Christian answers about the dinosaurs: http://www.christiananswers.net/dinosaurs/questions.html 4) ""Christians have three primary views concerning dinosaurs and the fossil record. Despite these differences, Christians are united in believing that God, who revealed Himself in the Bible, is the creator and that He made the universe, life, and humanity for a purpose. "View 1, which many people think Christians are required to believe, is the young-earth, flood-geology view. This view states that the earth was created only 6,000 to 10,000 years ago and that Noah's flood caused all the fossil record and geological column, and skewed our systems of geological dating as well. In this view, dinosaurs existed before the flood and were rendered extinct by it. "Many Christians reject this view as unscientific and not required by the Bible. They usually hold either View 2 (old-earth or progressive creationism) or 3 (theistic evolution). Both of these views accept the dating methods of science, that the earth is 4.6 billion years old and that the fossil record shows the record of life and extinctions in the various geologic ages, including the dinosaurs. View 3 accepts all that science says about the evolution of life, adding that God initially designed it to unfold in this way. Just as we can say that God made us, even though we understand much embryology now, so we can say God made life, even though we understand many naturalistic processes concerning evolution now. "However, many Christians believe View 2 is more consistent with both the Bible and with the scientific data. Biblically, Genesis chapter one describes eight separate creative acts by God over six 'days'. These days could be interpreted in figurative or symbolic language for six long eras, so this view accepts an ancient dating of the earth. This view holds that there are many discontinuities in nature -- e.g., non-life/life, reptile/mammal, animal/human, etc. -- and that at these discontinuities, God intervened with separate creative actions." • There is no such thing as one christian religion. I think most people who identify as christians would consider that the origin of dinosaurs has nothing to do with their religious beliefs.
  • Another perspective that satisfies the young-earth Creationist theory is that God did not create a new earth. He created an old one, just as he created an adult human instead of an infant. If that were the case, then the fossils and the geologic record prior to the week of creation are there in order to allow the entire system to operate properly. That is, the existence of fossil fuels is justified by the presence of ancient organic matter. Of course, there's the problem of what to do with the effects of a cause that never happened... Personally, I hold the view that it doesn't matter. The value I derive from the Book of Genesis rests in what it teaches me about human nature and how to live in the world, not in what it says about where everything came from. The Book is about people, not rocks, so I don't trouble myself about the things it leaves out.
  • Same place that the rest of the animals came from. Creation. Dino's went on the ark with the rest of hte animals..after Noah's flood the world was a different place with a different climate and.. they died out. Simple. The Bible talks about 'leviathin' and 'behemoth'..
  • There is no universal christian response to "where did dinosaurs come from"? De bible doesn't mention them, as they were not around when it was written. There are a very few christians (and muslims) who take one particular literal interpretation of the bible/koran and genesis in particular and stick to that view in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This is akin to continuing to believe the earth is flat - they're welcome to their rather daft views so long as they don't ever succeed in having them taught in public schools...
  • I didn`t know Christians were dinosaurs.
  • There were no dinosaurs. Just ignore the bones.
  • Most religious people, including the vast majority of Christians, have no problem with accepting dinosaurs as having existed in pre-historic times. It's only the small minority who insist that every word of the Bible must be taken literally and subscribe to Creationism that have a problem in accepting them.
  • fnd,my ans is that u cant juge god, only u can see the pruf now that we r seeing, all the avidience sawing that bible is the oldest riligion&in that name of god is jehova that we cant ignore it,its a solid pruf.
  • jehovas witnesses r only says bible truth, they never include any words by own,saw is it ok to pointing fingers on bible, while we seeing all the prufe, iam hindu so once thing is very common that to ask yourself if god is so mercy do god realy nedded to come on erth by takeing avtar?acording to bible god can do all the work from heaven, all religion knows god is one, than why they beleiving that there are so many god,how will you feel when your work is submiting others name,as far even with god also heppened,so ask yourself who is real god, then only god will help you to find out.
  • They dinosaurs weren't known to be Christians.
  • dinosaurs never existed!!they were put in place by the devil!!!!
  • Dinosaur is a modern word. It's not surprising that it's not found in the Bible. But Leviathan and Behemoth are, and they are generally accepted as dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are animals. Animals were created before man. Where's the problem? NOWHERE in the Bible does it say that the earth is 6000 years old. Why Protestants believe a Catholic bishop like Usher is beyond my understanding!
  • Islam (and Christianity if I am correct) doesnt say that dinosaurs existed or didnt exist. Comparing science and Religion, dinosaurs should have existed and died out before Adam came to earth (except the exceptions e.g. crocodiles) so there should not be anything wrong with believing that God created a planet full of dinosaurs and other creatures (unknown to us) then either the dinosaurs died or God killed them and then God created Adam and brought him onto earth with Eve from Heaven. Though for some strange reason, not many people like/accept this idea.
  • They were created by Yahweh God.
  • God made the world with dinosaurs bones already buried. He just didn't tell all the different prophets for a bit of a laugh. The bible is like a cross between Nostradamus and Ghandi, common sense but very vague. Of course you shouldn't take the 7 day creation thing literally, your just supposed to take the rest as the word of god.
  • Food for thought on how Christians have believed and would still believe if it were not for explorers and scientists of the past. Christians believed at one time the earth was flat and that the sun, moon, and stars revolved around the earth. Galeleo was executed for his scientific findings.
  • Start with Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. . (Billions of years go by Dinos are created and destroyed, the earth suffers a catastophe) . 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. -- Man never walked with dinosaurs, dinosaurs were not on the ark. Bible has not conflict with science in this matter.
  • God created the microscope for scientists to discover the dinosaurs God is the answer to everything for the lost soul
  • The question is gracefully avoided.. haha. The Bible doesnt mention dinosaurs at all (how could it when they didnt know about them at that time), so its basically up to each believer to decide. The hardcore believers deny dinosaurs. The more liberal ones I dont think have it as an issue at all. Why wouldn't God have created dinosaurs and then humans later on or something?
  • Many anwers :) much bullshit ;p
