its just bullshit ...pure and simple

It is not bullshit. A study was conducted by Dr. Donald Tashkin of UCLA, and he concluded that it has a ratio of 1:5 like stated; he also stated that it's most likely inaccurate, and that a more accurate answer would be 1:2. But that is tar wise. Overall, marijuana is much better for your lungs than tobacco is. Tobacco contributes to terminal illnesses such as lung cancer and emphysema; marijuana does not. :)

I do not think that is the question we should be asking. It does not matter how much particals, or what diff toxins are present inside the smoke. What matters is how many people actually die from smoking weed. None. And I think the answer to the question what you are about to ask is.... Tabacco has a deadly poison inside it. It's called Nicotene! That stuff is what is causing people to die by the THOUSANDS from smoking it... and Weed? It does not contain 1 poisonous chemical, Nada, Zip !!!

Have you EVER heard of someone getting lung cancer from weed ?? I didnt think so ! That is some shit the cigarette company paid the goverment to say . just the oil companies paid the goverment to look the other way while they bend us over and rape us at the pump !

I believe that marijuana is harsh on the lungs. Have you ever seen the inside of a well used bong? Or smelled the water? Its disgusting. Most weed has additives, the kind you get on the street at the "dime holes" are the worst. People add chemicals to make the buzz better and to weigh the pot down so that it weighs out. In the UK people were putting lead shavings in it to weigh it out! People were dying from lead poisoning! If you are worried about smoking it, ingest it. You get a better longer buzz, though it takes an hour to hit you it is also inconspicious (sp?) you could take a brownie to work and no one would ever know, so long as you got some visine handy :P When it comes to ciggerettes vs Pot I am pro marijuana all the way. If you choose to smoke pot, know your source. Try to find someone that you know picks the bud and puts it straight into the bag. Its more expensive that way but worth it I think.

I had taken Marijuana for two years and surprisingly not addicted to it.This Marijuana was from S.E.A and noted for its kick and quality.Farmers and fishermen traditionally took it during their evening resting hours after dinner. They hardly took cigarettes,I however had cigarettes for the past 15 years and addicted to it till this day.The truth is in the nicotine from the cigarettes that makes me addicted.

pure crap you get a buzz from cigarettes just like weed but in a different way the government is just trying to make people buy cigs for they can get taxes from them...

The statement concerns the carcinogens and potential for lung damage, not the buzz they give you or the addictive effect. It is based on scientific analysis of the carcenogenic content AND medical (non-laboratory) studies compiling findings from people with lung cancer and other lung diseases comparing those who admitted to regular cigarette smoking and regular marijuana smoking. To the best of my knowledge, it's true. (When it comes to scientific, medical, or other technocrati "studies", who among us actually knows anything beyond what we've read or been told by the various Media sources?) However, the biggest presumed factor (based on my reading) for the greater risk of marijuana was NOT the carcenogenic content (which is greater, but not that much greater) but the manner of smoking: compare typical cigarette smoking with the pot smokers habit of sucking in as much as he can, and holding it for as long as he can. This is what researchers theorized was the most damaging factor over time. And is not propaganda from the government, or if it is, not the US government: the principle studies were conducted in Canada and The Netherlands.

People do die from smoking weed. Weed causes lung cancer and other lung diseases and injuries as surely as cigarettes do. The comparative risks are still debated. Cigarettes are far more addictive, and many people smoke WAY too much (i.e., 1-3 cigarettes a day isn't much of a danger, but 1-3 packs is) but the typical way of smoking pot (super-deep inhalation, and then holding it) does more tissue damage per drag. Both weed and cigarettes are loaded with toxins and carcenogens, though a typical branded cigarette has slightly more than a typical joint made from organic home-grown (but beware the pesticides and herbicides, and whatever else it may have been intentionally or deliberately contaminated with). Also, you need to understand that a "[cigarette] smoking related death" is NOT the same thing as a death caused (in whole or in part) by cigarette smoking. Any and every death by lung cancer, other lung diseases, heart attack, heart disease, and stroke is registered as "a smoking related death" because there has been shown to be a statistical relationship between smoking and these illnesses. Even a man who's lived in the Candadian Rockies all his life, has never smoked, never been around smoke, but dies of a coronary blockage or something brought on by high blood pressure, counts towards a "smoking related death". What's more, every person who smokes pot but doesn't smoke tobacco, who dies from lung diseases precipitated by pot-smoking, their deaths are all statistically cataloged as "[tobacco] smoking related deaths." Marijuana - being illegal - has not been subjected to similar studies by the Surgeon General's Office and thus is not *officially* linked to such deaths.

that is propaganda what they tell you is that smoking a joint is the same as smoking 5 cigarettes, what they do not tell you is that there is no permanent damage smoking a joint inflames your lungs as if you just smoked 5 ciggarettes but there is no cancer causing agent in it. remember that BE WISE LEGALIZE!!!

I have no idea, but marijuana isn't filtered at all while cigarettes usually are. (Do they still even make unfiltered cigs?) Either is harmful to your lungs and both can have other side effects. Neither is "good" for you.
