I think medication is a set of medicines.

medicine is a drug.it's a medication if you take it.
Medication is the activity of taking medicine and medicine is the medicine itself that you take.
i'd think medication is more for a chronic problem, and medicine is like asprin or whatever. really, the same thing though...
