  • Low rise bikinis with thin straps.
  • In Glamour's May 2006 issue they give the following tip: To balance out the hips, wear a halter that adds some oomph up top. Also, aim for a darker bottom that dips a little in the front to make hips look less wide.
  • There are bikinis now that have very cute bottoms that look like little skirts and they are great for giving a slimming look to the hip area!
  • Try and find a halterneck tankini- (i.e the type that comes down low over your top half, rather than bra-stlyle)- they have a retro look thst is flattering on most women, but particularly those with a smaller top half than bottom half, as it draws attention outwards to the shoulders. A busy print, such as polka dots or horizontal stripes can also distract from a small chest (although don't repeat the stripes on your bottom half!) A lot of pear shaped women have toned stomachs and slim waists that compensate for heavy hips and thighs- take advantage of this by wearing low slung bottoms (although be extra careful not to lose them when swimming!) Short style pants tend to make the area look bigger, if you're toned, but just bigger than you'd like, high cut pants are fine, if you need more coverage on the bottom consider wearing a sarong or a light fabric mini skirt over the top.
  • Fact from ciction, truth from diction. If it is just for the sake of swimming, any. If it about style and vestage a wet suit.
