I haven't seen this story, but I think tazers should only be used as a last resort if the person's dangerous - and only by the police. You shouldn't just be able to go into a shop and buy them, I don't know if you can in Cananda and USA, but you can't here in the UK. As for alternatives.....a baton maybe? Or prehaps tear gas? Something that's not likely to kill you!!:D:D

It was not the security that used the tazers. It was the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the national police force. The man at the airport had just flown in from Poland to see his mother. He spoke almost no English, and had been in a waiting area for over 8 hours.Obviously tired and confused he started yelling. At this point another traveler started to video tape the incident. The man eventually threw a folding chair.Four RCMP police wrestled him down to the floor, and he was of not in any danger to anyone at that time. Then he was tazered and soon after died. The use off tazers should either be banned even in police or security forces ,or at least monitored and if used unnecessarily ,as in this case, these officers should be prohibited from using them. Many people with health issues or out of fear are seriously hurt or die with the use of a tazer.

Yeah I heard about that. Tazers should be illegal, from what I've seen they aren't used for security reasons as much as they're used for punishment. If not illegal, then yeah, strictly licensed.

I had this discussion with my son who is a deputy. We agreed to disagree. He said that they save lives and bodily harm to officers. I said that they're being abused and not used for their intention, when someone is posing a physical threat. The only alternative I can see is better training for police officers, including sensitivity training!

It's a long involved story. I worked in that airport 31 years so I have a pretty good idea of what happened. It is sad that the taser actually killed him..that was no one's intent. If they had meant to kill him they would have used a gun (police can carry guns in Canada). The system failed and failed badly...but the man was (not without good reason) becoming somewhat threatening.

I heard in the news the RCMP clicked the tazer gun multiple times, which made the electricty more dangorous, The proper way to use it is just to click it once

The taser(proper spelling) is still a better alternative to guns being fired. The problem can be with some officers who use them too quickly, w/o realizing that the person may be acting a certain way for a reason. All most police really want is for people to follow and obey the laws that are enacted. Not too much to ask for, is it?
