Because our culture hypes the holidays so damn much that people feel overly pressured to meet societal expectations that are beyond their capabilities.

I think Christmas brings out the loneliness and isolation that a lot of people feel. But I also think that the dismal weather and the fact that it even forces people to stay indoors all play a part in it.

Because the sense of loss and loneliness is heightened during the holidays. After my parents died and I had no longer had a family, the holidays are now more of a sad reminder of the past more than anything. I wouldn't kill myself over it, but I can understand why some people do.

I think it is mostly the Holidays. People start thing of the past,the ones who are gone, how things have changed and some just can't handle it!
