I have always heard that for a human tongue to pronounce God's true name would be almost impossible and would drive the person insane. That is why we call him God-or to be more specific it would have been the God of the Jewish people and they called him Jehovah.

His name was Yahweh, he was a Canaanite Elohim, which means one of the family of El, who was the supreme God before Yahweh overthrew him.

(John 20:17-18) 17 Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.’” Yes he is the supreme one Jehovah being the english translteration of the devine name, you might notice that most bible translations omit the name (sounds like a conspiricy by satan & his followers) & subitute it with LORD in all caps, if you have a strongs concordence look up Lord & see how many pages it refers to Jehovah
