Aristotle was Plato's student, and Aristotle much admired him. A lot of what we have relating to Plato is actually written by Aristotle, so you've got to remember that it might be adulterated.

The only main difference between them that I know of is that according to Plato the soul was immortal and Aristotle believed that the soul was just as mortal as we are.

They differ the most in terms of epistemology (the branch of philosophy that studies the nature of knowledge). Plato was a rationalist, in that he thought that all knowledge was innate, and the only world that existed was within one's mind. Aristotle on the other hand was an empiricist, and argued that knowledge is gained through one's experience through the senses. Plato scorned empirical epistemology, because he argued that our senses deceive us; we are all awash in illusion. Hope that helped. :)
