Maybe there's an inner wisdom that your building in not performing action in the physical world. Like, for instance, maybe the things you think about now will teach you something about yourself that you will need someday when the sh*t hits the fan and you have no choice BUT to go outside and kick some @$$!! d8-O<

It could be a phase. What age are you? If you are teenage then its highly likely. Push yourself to do things then once you realise it was worth it, it makes you WANT to go out and have fun. So my advice is - Just do it.

In all seriousness, you sound like you are suffering from depression. You should really and truly make an appointment with your doc, and tell him/her how you feel.

You are a slacker.

Sounds like you are starting to be depressed. Now is the time to try and get some help. Losing motivation can lead to being completely numb unable to feel anything. Since you can sense your lack, now is the time to do something about it. You also have probably been doing irrational thinking like these: 1. Do not have a written list of important goals that define success for you personally. 2. Believe that present goals or activities are wrong for you. 3. Feelings/emotions about present activities are generally negative. 4. Don't have (or believe you don't have) the ability to do present activities or obtain future goals. 5. Satisfaction of achieving goals seems in distant future. 6. Present activities not seen as related to important goals. 7. Important goals conflict with present activities. 8. Extrinsic incentives are low. 9. Personal problems interfere with present activities. Here's a great webpage about how to find that motivation: http://www.4hb.com/20040209121212.html

I know exactly how you feel. Lately I've been re-thinking all of my old goals... and ultimately kicking them out the back door. My dream school doesn't really sound so important anymore, my career goals are no longer exciting. My current school work is failing to prove worthy, and my mind itself seems to be lost. :( I don't like the feeling much. I hope we both feel better soon.

You are depressed. Go see a doctor.

Possibly depression and/or anxiety. Seek treatment. I have struggled with both of these all my life, and I felt just like you did for many, many years. Teachers and my parents just assumed I was lazy and spoiled, and told me so on a regular basis. It wasn't until anxiety drove me from college a third time that I saw a professional and found out what was going on. I've been in therapy and on an antianxiety/antidepressant ever since, and life is MUCH better! I hope you feel better soon.

Low initiative. I work hard for a living and love it but when I get home I'm pretty much like you. I cannot explain it at all.

I have dealt with something similar to this. I am no professional but I am an upper level pscyh student so I do have some knowledge. First ask yourself "was there something that set off the sense of blah?" A stressful event or anything? Sometims these things can cause our body to get out of wack. From what I know there are two likely causes for your symptoms, the first is that you could have a chemical imbalance that requires SSRI's (depression meds) or you may have a thyroid problem (hypothyroidism--there is an academic article by CG Roberts and Landenson). I would recommend seeing a doctor and getting a full medical checkup for the organic cause of what is going on with you. Often GPs just prescribe psychiatric drugs without full knowledge so if you could see a psychiatrist of CLINICAL psychologist that has the accredition to diagnose and treat you that would probably be most helpful. And of course with the thought-emotion-behavior process it is easiest to change behavior, so maybe make a small goal to do something that you find interesting.. I don't know, start with going out to a movie.

hi, well iv'e suffered with so called depression and stayed in a lot for the past few years.... i have had a good long hard look at myself and tried to find some answers, part of my problem was sudden hearing loss ( not the best thing to have, especially when i dedicated my life to music and played instruments..) ironically it wasn't loud noise that created the problem.. Anyway that is 1 factor and i believe after a number of years it is several factors bound together which creates my illness.. im not unhappy, but i wish for more, i tried anti depressants and for me they didn't work,, ( maybe i should have tried alternatives..) still im in this same position, have trouble paying bills etc, i feel like a complete fool knowing too well i can if i tried, but no motivation and no 1 to talk to doesn't help, i wish i could be as motivated as others, but i think too much, only remedy i found was to surface think, what i mean is, as soon as i go into this mode of deep thinking i do something else to take my mind off things, am i mad etc, i dont think so, i believe that for some of us, we do have a purpose and a part to play in life, finding the answers isnt easy, i feel bottom line is be happy, dont put yourself down and try to find something in your life to make you happy, even if you dont have the confidence to do it, 1 day unfortunately we all gonna die and then and only then we will regret not doing things, so drop it all and just say "hey im gonna do it, i have the right to exist and have all the things others take for granted ;)

Depression or some other underlying mental condition. Lack of serotonin to say the least. Do you do any illicit drugs/pharmecuticals or legal chemicals?
