I had no idea they did! Normally I can kind of see why people do crazy things like this, but cheers, rude??? Makes NO sense to me!

I've never come across anybody who thought it was rude. They must be nouveau riche, who are trying to use what they think are more refined expressions. To common people like me 'Cheers' is fine. They are just snobs - ignore them and their pretentious opinions.
