Why do so many on here ask for other people's opinions, and then downrate the ones they don't agree with? Why even ask for an opinion? Why not just ask for support of their own views?

Because most people are mean, slight joke and then again kinda serious. I don't think it's right but it's not really something you should worry too much about.

I'm not one of them. If I ask for an opinion on something even if I don't agree with what you said I will never downrate you. I think that is plain childish and ignorant

Yeah, I think it's really stupid to even ask an opinion question if you're not just curious. Most opinion questions are either "I don't know what my opinion should be," which is the mark of a complete idiot, or "This is my opinion, I'm writing this to see how many people I hate," the mark of an arrogant person. The only valid opinion questions are "Hey, I'm wondering how many people share my opinion and how many don't."

i know im a couple years late for this but i found your question when i was going to ask the same thing myself. i answered a question yesterday which asked for opinions, only to be thanked with aggressive comments and negative points. i completely agree with what you are saying. if they dont wanna hear the answer they shouldnt ask the question! ooooh im so mad! Xx
