  • If I was you I'd be calling the vet. Sounds like the horse is still in shock. Did he eat? Is he drinking? How's his attitude? If it's no, no, and dopey he needs to be seen again.
  • Had a couple really bad horse/barbed wire fence experiences when I was raising horses. I sure wouldn't take any chances. Get the vet to look at the horse again -- soon. A little money to spend for some peace of mind, even if nothing's really wrong.
  • Have your vet check the wound again just in case, your horse could just not be used to these kind of wounds but it is worth your time and money to take him to the vet. If the vet says he just needs to heal on his own, then I would get him some BLUE LOTION, yes that is the name, sold at tractor suppy, I bought it because my horse had a gash on his neck and after 2 days of using this, the wound had completely scabbed over. GREAT STUFF YOU NEED TO TRY IT!
  • Yes, you should be very concerned. Have the vet attend the horse asap, in order to re assess the wound. He may be in shock and he may be getting tetanus. Both can kill.
