Help answer this question below.
Buy a monkey. Make it feel at home, you know, treat it real nice. Then, when it wants to socially groom, stick little Johnny in front of the monkey. It will eat them all up in no time! OR you might try that shampoo... nah, go with the monkey!
I also believe you are getting reinfested. You must treat bedding, stuffed animals ect. The best thing I've found is called Nix. You can buy a kit that has a spray for furnature, bedding and such. Treat the person, bedding and furnature then repeat in two weeks... Good Luck!
The shampoo is probably working just fine - but the kids are being re-infested by coming into contact with other items (like pillows, bedding, clothes, towels, toys, chairs, couches, carpets, carseats, etc.) Jackets and coats are notorious because it's an article of clothing that tends to not be laundered that often.
Once lice are found you have to clean EVERYTHING in the house, not just the kids' hair! It's best to do it once a week for 2-3 consecutive weeks, that way you get anything you've missed.
If it's a washable item, wash it with hot water and dry in the dryer on high for at least 20 minutes. If it's something you can't wash, then you need to seal it up in a plastic bag (airtight!) and leave it for at least 2 weeks to let all the bugs die. (I've heard that dry-cleaning also works - but haven't tried it.)
You also need to wash the combs and brushes (and any other hair things - hair ties, scrunchies, whatever). You can wash them with hot soapy water, or soak them in alcohol.
Don't forget to vacuum the carpets! Kids lay on floors all the time!
It's not an easy process - but if you don't take care of everything, you'll find they just keep coming back.
u can kill the eggs using vinegar. just wash ur hair with it let the vinegar dry and the comb it out. it also helps if its a small lice attack. if THAT doesnt work THEN use the specail shampoo
There are a couple of shampoos (one of them is called "Rid") you can buy over the counter that come with very fined toothed combs to help get them out.
You also have to wash all their bedding in hot water (and I added RID to the wash) and use a double rinse cycle.
use a lice pick
My guess is that the Quell does work, but the rest of your things need to be treated. Any thing that touches the head bedding, stuffed animals, hats, coats, back of a couch and so forth. Those lice lay eggs and a lot of that medicated shampoos kill the lice, but the eggs that aren't treated in such things as the pillow will get back into the hair. I remember that it took quite a while to completely get rid of the lice when one of my kids had it. I had to repeat the process at least 3X in a month to make certain that she didn't have any. You may want to check if anyone else in the family, friends, school, daycare, work...has them. That's might be another reason why they keep coming back.
Rid X I believe is what we used if the warning came how from school about someone having lice. It is pretty easy unless the case is severe.
I was told that olive oil works as well as vinegar which works well during cleaning germs, couldn't hurt right?
My daughter has a problem with head lice often. I called the doctor for a prescription medicine called Quell but they told me to use mayonnaise! It worked better than any of the over the counter medicines I've tried. The doctor told me that the lice suffocate in the mayo and the oil from it makes combing the nits out easier . It is all natural so you are not putting pesticides in your child's hair and saves you alot of money!
Nix brand lice treatment
medicated shampoo
lice comb
lice medicated hair spray
Apple cider vinegar gets rid of them ( I would do it for about 7 days) Leaving it on for 10 minutes or so, if you have lice now. Try to do it a couple times a day. Rinsing your hair with AVC after washing / conditioning, will not only keep them away, but makes your hair shiny too :)
Two new techniques. #1, there's an electric hair drier that kills them with heat. #2, they are almost certainly getting re-infested at school. You'll have to alert the teacher and have him or her alert the parents of the whole classroom.
My dads very unconventional and CHEAP...when I was little he used cockroach spray on our hair. I don't recommend it though....and I don't think it really helped
Have you also cleaned the bedding or at least thrown it in the dryer for a little bit and vacuuming the floors and furniture?
There's a brand-new, chemical-free therapy that involves a sort of hair dryer that kills lice and their eggs with heat.
Lice are normally spread by schoolchildren. If your kids brought lice home, do not be embarrassed, call the school and say "There are lice in such and such a classroom." Otherwise, no matter what you do, your kids will keep bringing them home from other kids.
Lice are not a sign of poor hygiene. I once inspected a schoolgirl for lice whose head was as clean as if she'd been bald, only one spec of dandruff on the whole thing. So don't be ashamed of it, that helps them spread.
Qwell or any anti lice shampoo.
My mom used to put baby oil in or hair then use plastic rap or a shower cap to cover it..(if child goes to school, do on friday night)
Depending on what hair type you are will determine how easy it will be to get rid of the infestation. Depending whether you hair is long and curly (being the worse), or short and straight. Either way expect to have you work cut out for you.
If you have a problem with a reoccurrence, the problem more than likely has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the shampoo. Lice can live in places that are unexpected. They can live in the pillowcases and bedding as well as carpets. Anywhere there are dead skin cells.
Once you have treated a person with the shampoo, it is very important to wash the bedding in which they sleep. Vacuum thoroughly the carpeting and washing any stuffed animals that are in the room.
After shampooing the hair with the lice shampoo, it is important to use the fined-tooth comb. These combs are designed to crab onto the nit (the egg) and break it loose from the hair shaft.
Keep in mind that the nits have a incubation period of 7-10 days. Any nits that are left in the hair may hatch, resulting in a re-infestation of these menacing mongrels. Therefore, a reapplication is necessary.
There are over-the-counter products such as RID and NIX that are helpful. The combs are often included.
The best way to treat is preventing it from happening. If you have a child with long hair. Keep it up in a ponytail off the shoulder and spray with a lot of hairspray (lice cannot eat thru hairspray).
Permetherine cream 5% it kill lice and mites like a charm. BUT wash EVERYTHING, clothes and bedding as well as this treatment
Im not going to give away their info for free because its not right but I got the ebook and it solved all of our problems. I would at least check it out if I were you. The best head lice treatment for everyone!

they don't tell you, but you need to leave the shampoo in longer...this came from a nurse hotline, my daughter keep getting them, and I had washed everything....and vaccumed every inch of the house...stuffed animals where bagged and put in storage....finally after leaving the shampoo on for a longer period they died...
My old relative used to pour gasoline on his hound dog to rid him of ticks.
There is an over the counter medicine that you can buy. Ask at the pharmacy. +5 good question.

after you get the rid shampoo and wash all their sheets, youd better spray the lice spray around the house too
the medicated shampoo
yeh, olive oil dus work, jus 2 confirm Jules2729`s answer.
Seek medical help; they can provide medicine and instructions. If you can't do that get some powdered sulfur or sevin dust at a home center, feed store or ... and powder your head good. Leave it on an hour or so then wash. Keep it out of your eyes.
Change all pillowcases and sheets. Wash them.
Wash your hair. Use a special lice shampoo.
Comb your hair daily.
Shave your head, knit pick for a century, or get a special shampoo.
lots of conditioner and a comb...it will take a while and then do weekly checks shampoos are a waste of money
I used plastic brushes so I could microwave them for 2 minutes and their hair crunches also god yes it took 3 weeks it was hell now 6 months later here we are again
apply onion juice to your scalp an hour before you shampoo your hair.repeat it every alternate day or twice a week
Have you tried using a lice comb and running vinegar through their hair and actually combing the lice out? Also use dandruff shampoo and have it work up in a lather and let it sit- it will smother the lice.
Liquid nitro?
When I was a kid, mother use to put kerosene in my hair....arrrh, it did work though...
Apple Cider Vinegar
I would suggest reporting it to your child's school. (Anonymously if you're worried about them targeting your kid for anything) I think if you complain enough or enough people do they will send letters home to parents letting the ones who don't know any better how to treat their kids.
And I think if worse comes to worse they get the school nurse to start checking the kids and then call their parents if they are still finding kids with lice.
If your child is a boy I would go for the quick fix and shave their head, or if they are a girl, cut their hair shorter to make the lice easier to comb out.
Clean up all personal use stuff such as pillow, bed, carpet, car etc
Apply hair conditioning onto dry hair (cheap brand will do). Comb through evenly, tigh up conditioned hair and cover with a shower cap. Keep as it for about 24 hours, then rinse with warm water. Dry out your hair and repeat this process one more time.
After second trial, use lice pick comb to comb over and over your hair to see if there is any "survival" lice. Pick out all eggs if possible no matter it's dead or not.
To prevent head lice, always tigh up hair, plait is the best way. Avoid wearing other person's hat or helmet or stay head to head with other.
Beside, mix 15ml of lavender oil, 15ml of eucaliptus oil with 250ml of water. Spray this mixture onto hair daily can eliminate catching head lice.
Shave your head like britiney spears, I think that is the real reason she shaved her hair off she got head lice from kfed and then lost it after she relized it wasn't just on her head it was everwhere on her body.
use a nit comb.
Don't forget to treat the bed sheets, mattress and brushes.
Rub the hair with olive oil, cover in a plastic cap, blow dry your hair, then wash out!!!
"lindane" can be found at farm supply stores.it is the main ingredient in quell or rid x.(though it is overly diluted)mix it 10:1,w/water and apply to your hair.leave it on about 10 min.then rinse and shampoo thoughly.
How can you suffocate head lice when you have tried all the shampoos and treated the house as your told as use the lice comb is there anything anyone else know of to suffocate the I saw someone suggested Green tea
I think that the old way to do it was cover your head in mayonaise. The acidity is supposed to kill them. Just make sure you wash your hair several times afterwards, cause nothing worse than a mayo-head.
use a lice pick
Eviction notice?
Seriously, get medicine from your family doctor for washing the hair and the sheets (actually works better than Rid or other OTCs). Use a fine-toothed comb to remove the critters from the hair after treatment.
I pLefer flied lice with chop suey.
