What led you to believe there is a deity?

In my case, a direct encounter and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I was taught that by my parents.

When I was 18 someone had the patience and took the time to share the Gospel with me. My questions were answered satisfactorily, and I came to believe.

I don;t believe there is a deity, the God i believe in is a conscieousness (spelling?) that we are all apart of.

the resurrection of His son, for one thing. I am convinced that this is a historically attested fact. Then there is His continual presence in my life, and the fact that once, I heard His voice, as clearly as I have heard any human voice.

Observation, revelation and perspiration.

The evidence! an intelligent beeing evidences that the universe could not exist by itself; it was created! Nothing comes from nothing; but we feel that we happen to exist, and the universe is also contingent. The intellect tell us that it must be a necessary being, a creator, and we call him God.

I learned it through meditation and East Indian belief in karma and the responsibilities we carry. They teach that we are in charge of our future,and there is many deities that are just different phases of one deity.

Logic! i came to the conclusion that there had to be a Cause for all that is. Perceiving of a God (Force) that caused the universe to come into existence answered a lot of questions that i had, especially when i excepted evolution as the tool that God implemented to allow for the development of matter and life.

I've experienced too many coincidences and too many close calls in life to doubt the existence of some sort of higher power. But I do find myself questioning the intentions of this higher power.

The evidence to me is in nature itself. I refuse to believe in coincidences this big. Why are women so beautifully formed? Why do I love certain foods? Why do our pets love us and even perform for us? Why do we even wonder if there is a Creator? Etc. These very things speak to me that there probably is a Creator, and that's what I choose to believe.

Every person is born with a belief in God on some level of consciousness. It is not possible to NOT believe in God for he is in everything. When we look in the mirror we are God looking at God.
