  • I think he's on Greenwich time. ;)
  • Other animals are affected by the full moon, maybe your neighborhood roosters are too!?
  • Something, a raccoon or other killer of chickens in the hen house?
  • Many Roosters are known for their drug induced cock a doodle do...leaving them confused, and tempermental...no need to worry, they will cease when they clean out their system. Below you can clearly see the drug deal being negotiated.
  • It is common scientific consensus that roosters "crow" simply for territorial enforcement. That birds in general are most active in the morning (when bugs, their favourite food become active with the warmth) causes the roosters extra concern to voice their claims. Whether this exercise is cyclic (circadian, endogenous etc) so that they will do it everyday even if no threats were perceived for an extended amount of time remains to be proved (as far as I know). But it is very safe to say that it was provoked simply by another animal in the area . Roosters (and hens) make noise for other reasons such as keeping a predisposed group together or a simple warning to others of that group of danger. "Crowing" though not all that different has been simply associated with dawn because of its regularity.
